Hampshire County is one of the 14 county of Massachusetts, located towards the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. It is home to over 152251 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 154983, It is the tenth most populous county in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 545.44 sq mi (1412.68 kmē), of which, 529.03 square miles (1370.18 kmē) of it is land and 16.41 square miles (42.5 kmē) of it is water, giving it the tenth largest by total area among Massachusetts's county.

For every 100 females there were 87.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.9 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 154983, The racial makeup of the county was 142620 White, 3830 Black or African American, 367 American Indian, 5551 Asian, 74 Native Hawaiian, and 2541 from two or more races.
