Hamilton Town is a town located in the Steuben and DeKalb counties, Indiana, United States. In 2000, town's population was 1233 inhabitants. It is the 297th most populous in the U.S. state of Indiana. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.02 square miles (5.23 kmē), of which, 1.66 square miles (4.3 kmē) of it is land and 0.36 square miles (0.93 kmē) of it is water, it is the 180th largest by area in the U.S. state of Indiana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1233 residents, 517 households, and 349 families in the town. The population density was 744.5 people per square mile (287.45/kmē), it is Indiana's 88th least densely populated town. There were 680 housing units at an average density of 409.6 per square mile (158.15/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 people, and the average family size was 2.85 people. In the town the population was distributed as follows: 23.9% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 15% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.9 males.
