Hamilton County is a county located in the United States of Indiana. Hamilton County had an official population of 182740 in 2000. The July 2008 population estimate is 269785, It is the fourth most populous county in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is spread over 402.73 miē (1043.07 kmē), of which, 397.94 square miles (1030.66 kmē ) of it is land and 4.79 square miles (12.41 kmē) of it is water, it is the 48th largest in terms of geographical size.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 30.8% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 34.9% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.5 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 269785, The racial makeup of the county was 90.8% White, 4.03% Black or African American, 0.19% American Indian, 3.77% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 1.17% from two or more races.
