Hamilton County is a county in the United States of Illinois. In 2000, county's population was 8621 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 8267, making it Illinois's 14th smallest county. The county comprises an area of 435.84 sq mi (1128.82 sq km), of which, 435.16 square miles (1127.06 sq km) of it is land and 0.67 square miles (1.74 sq km) of it is water, making it Illinois's 68th largest county by total area.

There were 3983 housing units at an average density of 9.2 per square mile (3.55/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.43 persons, and the average family size was 2.95 persons. In the county Age distribution was 24% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 19.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 8267, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98.05% White, 0.88% Black or African American, 0.28% American Indian, 0.16% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.62% from two or more races.
