Hamburg Borough is one of the borough of Sussex County, New Jersey, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 3105 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 3466, It is the 149th least populous in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The borough extends throughout a territory of 1.16 sq mi (3 square kilometre ), of which, 1.16 square miles (3 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 105th smallest by size in New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3105 people in the borough, organized into 457 households, and 284 families residing in the borough. The population density was 2686.6 people per square mile (1037.3/kmē), it is New Jersey's 274th most densely populated borough. There were 1233 housing units at an average density of 1062.9 per square mile (410.39/kmē). The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.14. In the borough Age distribution was 26.8% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 35.2% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 108.5 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 110 females. The median age of the borough's population was 35 years, the median age of male residents at 35.1 and the median age of female residents at 34.9. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 2892 White, 23 Black or African American, 9 American Indian, 71 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 58 from two or more races and 52 Ohter races.
