Hamblen County is a county located in Tennessee, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 58128 as per the Census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 62132, making it the 21st most populous county in Tennessee. The county comprises an area of 175.77 miē (455.24 kmē), of which, 161.03 square miles (417.07 kmē) of it is land and 14.74 square miles (38.18 kmē) of it is water, it is the fourth smallest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 361 people per square mile (139.38/kmē), giving it the sixth most densely populated county among the Tennessee. There were 24693 housing units at an average density of 153.3 per square mile (59.19/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.47 persons, and the average family size was 2.91 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 23.3% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.5 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 62132, The racial makeup of the county was 58034 White, 2583 Black or African American, 227 American Indian, 526 Asian, 87 Native Hawaiian, and 675 from two or more races.
