Hallowell City is one of the city of Kennebec County, Maine, located towards the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. The city has a population of 2467 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 2437, making it the 59th most populous in Maine. It covers total area of 6.11 mi˛ (15.82 square kilometre), of which, 5.87 square miles (15.2 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.23 square miles (0.6 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 52nd largest by size in Maine.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2467 people in the city, organized into 1145 households, and 605 families residing in the city. The population density was 420.1 people per square mile (162.2/km˛), making its Maine's 75th most densely populated city.
