Half Moon Bay City is a city located in San Mateo County, California, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. In 2000, city's population was 11842 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 12449, It is the 405th most populous in the U.S. state of California. The city has a total area of 6.49 sq mi (16.81 sq km), of which, 6.47 square miles (16.76 sq km) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, making it the 457th largest by size in California.
