Haines City, Alaska


Haines City is a one of the Haines Borough, Alaska, located in Western Region (Pacific) of United States. It is home to over 1811 people (2000 census). It is the 39th most populous in the U.S. state of Alaska. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 21.55 square miles (55.81 sq km), of which, 13.52 square miles (35.02 sq km) of it is land and 8.03 square miles (20.8 sq km) of it is water, it is the 182nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Alaska.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1811 residents, 752 households, and 505 families in the city. The population density was 134 people per square mile (51.74/kmē), it is Alaska's 50th most densely populated city. There were 895 housing units at an average density of 66.2 per square mile (25.56/kmē). The average household size was 2.4 and the average family size was 2.94. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 26.7% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 28% from 25 to 44, 28.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.7 males. The median age of the city's population was 40.2 years, the median age of male residents at 40.5 and the median age of female residents at 40. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 1442 White, 3 Black or African American, 251 American Indian, 12 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, 93 from two or more races and 8 Ohter races.
