Guernsey County is a United States county located in the United States of Ohio. The county has a population of 40792 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 40177, It is Ohio's 26th least populous county. Its area is just over 528.29 sq mi (1368.26 square kilometre), of which, 521.9 square miles (1351.71 square kilometre) of it is land and 6.39 square miles (16.55 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Ohio's 28th largest county by total area.

In the county the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 24% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 105.9 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 109.4 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 40177, The racial makeup of the county was 96.23% White, 1.6% Black or African American, 0.34% American Indian, 0.33% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 1.49% from two or more races.
