Griggs County is a county located in the United States of North Dakota. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Griggs County is home to 2754 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 2359, making it North Dakota's 14th smallest county. It covers total area of 716.17 sq mi (1854.87 kmē), of which, 708.5 square miles (1835.01 kmē) of it is land and 7.67 square miles (19.87 kmē) of it is water, it is the fourth smallest by area in the U.S. state of North Dakota.


As of the census of 2000, there were 2754 people in the county, organized into 1178 households, and 781 families residing in the county. The population density was 3.9 people per square mile (1.51/kmē), it is North Dakota's 28th most densely populated county. There were 1521 housing units at an average density of 2.1 per square mile (0.81/kmē). The average household size was 2.29 people, and the average family size was 2.88 people. In the county Age distribution was 22.5% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 21.1% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 25.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 100.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 100.1 females. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2359, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 99.41% White, 0% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 0.13% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.21% from two or more races.
