Grenada County is one of the 82 county of Mississippi, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Grenada County is home to 23263 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 22995, making it Mississippi's 41st largest county. It has total area of 449.38 sq mi (1163.89 square kilometre), of which, 421.79 square miles (1092.43 square kilometre) of it is land and 27.58 square miles (71.43 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Mississippi's 21st smallest county by total area.

The population density was 55.2 people per square mile (21.31/kmē), it would be the 28th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Mississippi. There were 9973 housing units at an average density of 23.6 per square mile (9.11/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.58 persons, and the average family size was 3.09 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 27.2% under the age of 18, 9% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 87.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.9 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 22995, The racial makeup of the county was 56.94% White, 41.64% Black or African American, 0.17% American Indian, 0.67% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.56% from two or more races.
