According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 276.37 square miles (715.8 sq km), of which, 274.03 square miles (709.73 sq km) of it is land and 2.34 square miles (6.06 sq km) of it is water, making it Texas's sixth smallest county by total area.
