Greer City, Greenville and Spartanburg counties, South Carolina is a city located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 16843. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 24557, It is the 22nd most populous in the U.S. state of South Carolina. Its area is just over 16.13 square miles (41.78 sq km), it is the 20th largest by area in the U.S. state of South Carolina.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 16843 people, 6714 households, and 4510 families residing in the city. The population density was 1044.5 people per square mile (403.28/kmē), it would be the 106th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of South Carolina. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.8% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 33.4% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 or older. The racial makeup of the city was 73.39% White, 19.49% Black or African American, 0.22% American Indian, 1.16% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, 1.26% from two or more races and 4.42% Other races.
