Greenwood County is a county located in the United States of Kansas. The population of county in 2000 stood at 7673 as per the Census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 6861, making it the 54th most populous county in Kansas. The county encompasses an area of 1152.59 sq mi (2985.19 sq km ), of which, 1139.67 square miles (2951.73 sq km) of it is land and 12.92 square miles (33.46 sq km) of it is water, it is the fifth largest by area in the U.S. state of Kansas.

In the county the population was distributed as follows: 23.7% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 23.2% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 22.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.5 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 6861, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.62% White, 0.25% Black or African American, 1.12% American Indian, 0.34% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 1.68% from two or more races.
