Greenwood City is a city located in the Leflore County, Mississippi, United States. In 2000, the population was 18425. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 16084, It is the 19th most populous in the U.S. state of Mississippi. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.52 square miles (24.66 sq km), of which, 9.22 square miles (23.88 sq km) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 sq km) of it is water, it is the 67th largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 18425 people, 6916 households, and 4525 families residing in the city. The population density was 1997.8 people per square mile (771.35/kmē), it is the 15th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Mississippi.
