Greenlee County, Arizona is a county located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. In 2000, the population was 8547. The July 2008 population estimate is 8002, making it the least populous county in Arizona. The county comprises an area of 1848.42 square miles (4787.39 square kilometre), of which, 1847 square miles (4783.71 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.42 square miles (3.68 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Arizona's second smallest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8547 residents, 3117 households, and 2266 families in the county. The population density was 4.6 people per square mile (1.78/kmē), it is the second least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Arizona. There were 3744 housing units at an average density of 2 per square mile (0.77/kmē). The average household size was 2.73 people, and the average family size was 3.26 people. In the Greenlee County, 31.7% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.5% were 18 to 24, 28.2% were 25 to 44, 22.6% were 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 109.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 8002, The racial makeup of the county was 7542 White, 107 Black or African American, 195 American Indian, 26 Asian, 10 Native Hawaiian, and 122 from two or more races.
