Greene County is a county in the United States of Mississippi. As of 2000 the population was 13299. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 13818, It is the 23rd least populous county in the U.S. state of Mississippi. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 718.69 square miles (1861.4 kmē), of which, 712.82 square miles (1846.2 kmē) of it is land and 5.87 square miles (15.2 kmē) of it is water, it is the 17th largest in terms of geographical size.

For every 100 males there were 76.9 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 70.9 females. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 13818, The racial makeup of the county was 9790 White, 3911 Black or African American, 32 American Indian, 17 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, and 64 from two or more races.
