Greene County, Indiana is a county located in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The county has a population of 33157 as per the 2000 census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 32577, It is Indiana's 52nd most populous county. It covers total area of 545.91 mi˛ (1413.9 sq km), of which, 541.73 square miles (1403.07 sq km) of it is land and 4.18 square miles (10.83 sq km) of it is water, giving it the sixth largest by total area among Indiana's county.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.7% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 24% from 45 to 64, and 15.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.6 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 32577, The racial makeup of the county was 31965 White, 151 Black or African American, 120 American Indian, 100 Asian, 5 Native Hawaiian, and 236 from two or more races.
