Greene County is a one of the county from Arkansas's 75 counties, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 37331. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 40684, It is the 19th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Arkansas. It has total area of 579.65 sq mi (1501.29 sq km), of which, 577.51 square miles (1495.74 sq km) of it is land and 2.14 square miles (5.54 sq km) of it is water, giving it the seventh smallest by total area among Arkansas's county.
