Green River City is a city located in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The city has a population of 11808 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 12149, It is the seventh largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 14.02 mi˛ (36.31 square kilometre), of which, 13.71 square miles (35.51 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.32 square miles (0.83 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Wyoming's 33rd largest by total area. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in Wyoming.

The median age of the city's population was 34.1 years, The median age of males was 33.6 years, for females the median age was 34.5 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 10879 White, 32 Black or African American, 160 American Indian, 38 Asian, 7 Native Hawaiian, 192 from two or more races and 500 Ohter races.
