Graves County is a county in the United States of Kentucky. As of 2000 the population was 37028. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 37487, It is 28th most populous county in Kentucky. The county extends throughout a territory of 556.46 square miles (1441.22 kmē ), of which, 555.59 square miles (1438.97 kmē) of it is land and 0.87 square miles (2.25 kmē) of it is water, makes it the eighth largest by total area in Kentucky.

As of the census of 2000, there were 37028 people, 14841 households, and 10562 families living in the county. The population density was 66.6 people per square mile (25.71/kmē), making its Kentucky's 54th most densely populated county. There were 16340 housing units at an average density of 29.4 per square mile (11.35/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.44 persons, and the average family size was 2.92 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.5% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 27.3% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.5 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 37487, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 35066 White, 1753 Black or African American, 110 American Indian, 126 Asian, 12 Native Hawaiian, and 420 from two or more races.
