Granville County, North Carolina is a county located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 48498 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 57044, It is North Carolina's 45th most populous county. Its area is just over 536.56 mi˛ (1389.68 sq km), of which, 531.12 square miles (1375.59 sq km) of it is land and 5.45 square miles (14.12 sq km) of it is water, it is the 42nd largest by area in the U.S. state of North Carolina.

The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 57044, The racial makeup of the county was 36850 White, 18865 Black or African American, 444 American Indian, 323 Asian, 10 Native Hawaiian, and 552 from two or more races.
