Grant Parish is a parish located in Louisiana, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. Grant Parish had an official population of 18698 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 19974, giving it the 17th smallest population among Louisiana's parish. It covers total area of 664.56 sq mi (1721.2 square kilometre), of which, 645.11 square miles (1670.83 square kilometre) of it is land and 19.45 square miles (50.38 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Louisiana's 34th largest parish by total area.

The population density was 29 people per square mile (11.2/kmē), it is the 17th least densely populated parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. There were 8531 housing units at an average density of 13.2 per square mile (5.1/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.61 persons, and the average family size was 3.06 persons. In the parish the population was spread out, with 28.3% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 23% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 19974, The racial makeup of the parish was 17131 White, 2337 Black or African American, 174 American Indian, 56 Asian, 5 Native Hawaiian, and 271 from two or more races.
