Grant County, North Dakota


Grant County is a one of the county from North Dakota's 53 counties, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 2841. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2415, giving it the 17th smallest population among North Dakota's county. The county comprises an area of 1665.92 mi˛ (4314.71 sq km), of which, 1659.46 square miles (4297.98 sq km) of it is land and 6.46 square miles (16.73 sq km) of it is water, it is the 13th largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 2841 people, 1195 households, and 801 families living in the county. The population density was 1.7 people per square mile (0.66/km˛), giving it the third least densely populated county among the North Dakota. There were 1722 housing units at an average density of 1 per square mile (0.39/km˛). The average household size was 2.3 persons, and the average family size was 2.9 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 23.4% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 20.5% from 25 to 44, 27.1% from 45 to 64, and 24.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 96.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 99.7 females. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 2415, The racial makeup of the county was 95.65% White, 0% Black or African American, 3.19% American Indian, 0.25% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.91% from two or more races.
