Grant County is a county in the United States of New Mexico. As of 2000 the population was 31002. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 29844, It is the 15th largest in terms of population. The county encompasses an area of 3967.5 sq mi (10275.78 kmē ), of which, 3965.88 square miles (10271.58 kmē) of it is land and 1.62 square miles (4.2 kmē) of it is water, it is the 14th largest by area in the U.S. state of New Mexico.

The population density was 7.8 people per square mile (3.01/kmē), it is 16th most densely populated county in New Mexico. There were 14066 housing units at an average density of 3.5 per square mile (1.35/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.5 persons, and the average family size was 3.01 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 23.7% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.3 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 29844, The racial makeup of the county was 28297 White, 410 Black or African American, 533 American Indian, 128 Asian, 28 Native Hawaiian, and 448 from two or more races.
