Grant County is a county located in Minnesota, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 6289 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 6005 in July 2008, giving it the ninth smallest population among Minnesota's county. The county comprises an area of 575.18 square miles (1489.71 sq km), of which, 546.41 square miles (1415.2 sq km) of it is land and 28.77 square miles (74.51 sq km) of it is water, making it the 27th smallest by size in Minnesota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6289 people, 2534 households, and 1741 families living in the county. The population density was 11.5 people per square mile (4.44/kmē), it is 16th least densely populated county in Minnesota. There were 3098 housing units at an average density of 5.7 per square mile (2.2/kmē). The average household size was 2.4 persons, and the average family size was 2.94 persons. In the county Age distribution was 23.9% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 23.1% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 22.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 6005, The racial makeup of the county was 5910 White, 15 Black or African American, 18 American Indian, 10 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 52 from two or more races.
