Grant County is a county located in Kansas, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 7909 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 7395, It is the 51st largest county by population in the U.S. state of Kansas. The county spans an area of 575.04 mi˛ (1489.35 sq km), of which, 574.86 square miles (1488.88 sq km) of it is land and 0.18 square miles (0.47 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 15th smallest by total area in Kansas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7909 residents, 2742 households, and 2099 families in the county. The population density was 13.8 people per square mile (5.33/km˛), it is Kansas's 47th most densely populated county. There were 3027 housing units at an average density of 5.3 per square mile (2.05/km˛). The average household size was 2.86 persons, and the average family size was 3.34 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 32.8% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 9.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.5 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 7395, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.84% White, 0.43% Black or African American, 1.23% American Indian, 0.69% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.81% from two or more races.
