Grant County is one of the 92 county of Indiana, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The county has a population of 73403 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 68609, making it the 23rd most populous county in Indiana. Its area is just over 414.83 square miles (1074.4 square kilometre), of which, 414.03 square miles (1072.33 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.81 square miles (2.1 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 34th largest by total area in Indiana.

The population density was 177.3 people per square mile (68.46/kmē), it is Indiana's 21st most densely populated county. In the county Age distribution was 23.6% under the age of 18, 11.8% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 15% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.9 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 68609, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 90.32% White, 6.87% Black or African American, 0.52% American Indian, 0.65% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.59% from two or more races.
