Grant County is one of the 75 county of Arkansas, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of the county was 16464 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 17690, making it the 44th most populous county in Arkansas. The county has a total area of 633.01 mi˛ (1639.49 square kilometre), of which, 631.78 square miles (1636.3 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.23 square miles (3.19 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 47th largest by total area among Arkansas's county.

The population density was 26.1 people per square mile (10.08/km˛), making its Arkansas's 45th most densely populated county. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 25.9% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.3 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 17690, The racial makeup of the county was 16732 White, 660 Black or African American, 81 American Indian, 54 Asian, 5 Native Hawaiian, and 158 from two or more races.
