Grand Rapids City is a United States city located in the Kent County, Michigan, United States. It is home to over 197800 people (2000 census). The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 193396, It is the second most populous in the U.S. state of Michigan. The city has a total area of 45.32 sq mi (117.38 kmē), of which, 44.64 square miles (115.62 kmē) of it is land and 0.68 square miles (1.76 kmē) of it is water, making it the third largest by size in Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 197800 people in the city, organized into 73217 households, and 44370 families residing in the city. The population density was 4431.2 people per square mile (1710.9/kmē), making it the 28th most densely populated city in Michigan.
