Grand County is one of the 29 county of Utah, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Grand County is home to 8485 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 9589, making it Utah's ninth smallest county. Its area is just over 3694.08 miē (9567.62 kmē), of which, 3681.56 square miles (9535.2 kmē) of it is land and 12.52 square miles (32.43 kmē) of it is water, making it the ninth largest by size in Utah.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8485 people, 3434 households, and 2170 families living in the county. The population density was 2.3 people per square mile (0.89/kmē), it is ninth least densely populated county in Utah. There were 4062 housing units at an average density of 1.1 per square mile (0.42/kmē). The average household size was 2.44 persons, and the average family size was 3.06 persons. In the county Age distribution was 26.9% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 24.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.1 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 9589, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 92.71% White, 0.4% Black or African American, 5.33% American Indian, 0.22% Asian, 0.13% Native Hawaiian, and 1.22% from two or more races.
