Grand County is a United States county located in the United States of Colorado. The county has a population of 12442 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 13781, giving it the 34th largest population among Colorado's county. Its area is just over 1869.6 mi˛ (4842.24 sq km), of which, 1846.67 square miles (4782.85 sq km) of it is land and 22.93 square miles (59.39 sq km) of it is water, it is the 21st largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Colorado.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 12442 people, 5075 households, and 3217 families living in the county. The population density was 6.7 people per square mile (2.59/km˛), giving it the 37th most densely populated county among the Colorado. There were 10894 housing units at an average density of 5.9 per square mile (2.28/km˛). The average household size was 2.37 persons, and the average family size was 2.85 persons. In the county Population was distributed with 21.8% under the age of 18, 9% from 18 to 24, 34.7% from 25 to 44, 26.8% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 112.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 115.7 males. Its population was estimated at 13781 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.52% White, 0.97% Black or African American, 0.53% American Indian, 0.91% Asian, 0.09% Native Hawaiian, and 0.98% from two or more races.
