Grainger County is a one of the county from Tennessee's 95 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 20659 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 22708, It is the 60th most populous county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The county spans an area of 302.44 sq mi (783.32 sq km), of which, 280.33 square miles (726.05 sq km) of it is land and 22.11 square miles (57.26 sq km) of it is water, making it the 19th smallest by size in Tennessee.

As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 22708, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98.4% White, 0.74% Black or African American, 0.16% American Indian, 0.08% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.59% from two or more races.
