In July 2008, its estimated population was 2592, giving it the 13th smallest population among Kansas's county. The county comprises an area of 898.67 mi˛ (2327.54 sq km), of which, 898.29 square miles (2326.56 sq km) of it is land and 0.38 square miles (0.98 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 30th largest by total area among Kansas's county.
