Goliad County is a county located in Texas, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 6928 as per the Census data. Its population was estimated at 7152 in July 2008, making it Texas's 69th smallest county. It is spread over 859.35 miē (2225.71 kmē), of which, 853.52 square miles (2210.61 kmē ) of it is land and 5.83 square miles (15.1 kmē) of it is water, it is the 64th smallest in terms of geographical size.


As of the census of 2000, there were 6928 people, 2644 households, and 1975 families residing in the county. The population density was 8.1 people per square mile (3.13/kmē), it is Texas's 74th least densely populated county. There were 3426 housing units at an average density of 4 per square mile (1.54/kmē). The average household size was 2.57 persons, and the average family size was 3.02 persons. In the county Age distribution was 25.9% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 25% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 101.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 106.2 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 7152, The racial makeup of the county was 92.87% White, 5.56% Black or African American, 0.67% American Indian, 0.21% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.67% from two or more races.
