Goliad County is a county located in Texas, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 6928 as per the Census data. Its population was estimated at 7152 in July 2008, making it Texas's 69th smallest county. It is spread over 859.35 miē (2225.71 kmē), of which, 853.52 square miles (2210.61 kmē ) of it is land and 5.83 square miles (15.1 kmē) of it is water, it is the 64th smallest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6928 people, 2644 households, and 1975 families residing in the county. The population density was 8.1 people per square mile (3.13/kmē), it is Texas's 74th least densely populated county. There were 3426 housing units at an average density of 4 per square mile (1.54/kmē). The average household size was 2.57 persons, and the average family size was 3.02 persons.
