Golden Valley County, Montana is a county located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 1042 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 1081, It is fifth least populous county in Montana. The county encompasses an area of 1176.4 square miles (3046.86 sq km ), of which, 1175.3 square miles (3044.01 sq km) of it is land and 1.1 square miles (2.85 sq km) of it is water, making it Montana's fifth smallest county by total area.

The population density was 0.9 people per square mile (0.35/kmē), making its Montana's eighth least densely populated county. There were 450 housing units at an average density of 0.4 per square mile (0.15/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.41 persons, and the average family size was 2.85 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 27.6% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 23% from 25 to 44, 27% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 107.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.2 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 1081, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98.8% White, 0% Black or African American, 0.83% American Indian, 0.09% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.28% from two or more races.
