It is the 170th largest by population in the U.S. state of Virginia. Its area is just over 7.19 square miles (18.62 square kilometre), of which, 6.99 square miles (18.1 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 105th largest by total area in Virginia.
