As of July 2008, the estimated population was 30243, making it Massachusetts's 44th largest. It has total area of 41.5 square miles (107.48 kmē), of which, 25.96 square miles (67.24 kmē) of it is land and 15.53 square miles (40.22 kmē) of it is water, giving it the sixth largest by total area among Massachusetts. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Massachusetts.
