Glades County is a county located in the United States of Florida. In 2000, county's population was 10576 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 11175, making it the third least populous county in Florida. The county encompasses an area of 986.43 square miles (2554.84 square kilometre ), of which, 773.64 square miles (2003.72 square kilometre) of it is land and 212.79 square miles (551.12 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 24th largest by total area in Florida.

As of the census of 2000, there were 10576 people, 3852 households, and 2764 families living in the county. The population density was 13.7 people per square mile (5.29/kmē), it is Florida's third least densely populated county. There were 5790 housing units at an average density of 7.5 per square mile (2.9/kmē). The average household size was 2.51 persons, and the average family size was 2.91 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 22.1% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 27% from 25 to 44, 24.5% from 45 to 64, and 18.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 82.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 79.7 females. The July 2008 population estimate is 11175, The racial makeup of the county was 9092 White, 1313 Black or African American, 577 American Indian, 50 Asian, 12 Native Hawaiian, and 131 from two or more races.
