Giles County is a United States county located in the United States of Tennessee. In 2000, the population was 29447. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 29184, It is 50th most populous county in Tennessee. The county encompasses an area of 611.17 square miles (1582.92 kmē ), of which, 610.93 square miles (1582.3 kmē) of it is land and 0.25 square miles (0.65 kmē) of it is water, making it Tennessee's 12th largest county by total area.

In the county the population was distributed as follows: 24.5% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 29184, The racial makeup of the county was 25405 White, 3178 Black or African American, 96 American Indian, 179 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 323 from two or more races.
