Gibson County is a county located in Tennessee, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. It is home to over 48152 people (2000 census). The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 49257, It is the 30th largest in terms of population. It has total area of 603.59 mi˛ (1563.29 sq km), of which, 602.67 square miles (1560.91 sq km) of it is land and 0.92 square miles (2.38 sq km) of it is water, it is the 13th largest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.

It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 49257, The racial makeup of the county was 39253 White, 9335 Black or African American, 114 American Indian, 124 Asian, 9 Native Hawaiian, and 422 from two or more races.
