Gibson County is a county located in Indiana, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. Gibson County had an official population of 32500 in 2000. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 32666, It is the 51st most populous county in the U.S. state of Indiana. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 499.05 sq mi (1292.53 square kilometre), of which, 488.78 square miles (1265.93 square kilometre) of it is land and 10.27 square miles (26.6 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 14th largest by area in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in Indiana.

The population density was 66.5 people per square mile (25.68/kmē), it is the 59th most populated county in terms of population density. In the county the population was spread out, with 24.8% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.4 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 32666, The racial makeup of the county was 96.13% White, 2.15% Black or African American, 0.2% American Indian, 0.63% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.89% from two or more races.
