Genesee County, New York is a county located in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 60370 people (2000 census). It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 57821, It is New York's 19th least populous county. It has total area of 495.33 square miles (1282.9 sq km), of which, 494.11 square miles (1279.74 sq km) of it is land and 1.22 square miles (3.16 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 16th smallest by total area among New York's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 60370 residents, 22770 households, and 15823 families in the county. The population density was 122.2 people per square mile (47.18/kmē), giving it the 31st most densely populated county among the New York. There were 24190 housing units at an average density of 49 per square mile (18.92/kmē). The average household size was 2.59 people, and the average family size was 3.1 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.1% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 57821, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 54609 White, 1588 Black or African American, 526 American Indian, 361 Asian, 19 Native Hawaiian, and 718 from two or more races.
