Genesee County is a county located in the United States of Michigan. The population of county in 2000 stood at 436141 as per the Census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 428790, It is the fifth largest in terms of population. The county comprises an area of 649.34 mi˛ (1681.78 sq km), of which, 639.64 square miles (1656.66 sq km) of it is land and 9.7 square miles (25.12 sq km) of it is water, making it Michigan's 50th largest county by total area.

There were 183630 housing units at an average density of 287.1 per square mile (110.85/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.54 persons, and the average family size was 3.07 persons. In the county Age distribution was 27.4% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.5 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 428790, The racial makeup of the county was 77.04% White, 19.39% Black or African American, 0.57% American Indian, 0.93% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 2.05% from two or more races.
