Gastonia City is a city located in Gaston County, North Carolina, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Gastonia City is home to 66277 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 72505, It is the 12th largest by population in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It is spread over 46.26 mi˛ (119.81 square kilometre), of which, 46.06 square miles (119.29 square kilometre ) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the ninth largest by total area among North Carolina.
