Gary City is a city located in the Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population of city in 2000 stood at 102746 as per the Census data. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 95920, giving it the fifth largest population among Indiana. The city encompasses an area of 57.24 mi˛ (148.25 square kilometre ), of which, 50.23 square miles (130.1 square kilometre) of it is land and 7.01 square miles (18.16 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the third largest by total area among Indiana. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in Indiana.
