Garfield County is a United States county located in the United States of Utah. The population of county in 2000 stood at 4735 as per the Census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 4658, It is fifth least populous county in Utah. The county has a total area of 5208.2 square miles (13489.18 square kilometre), of which, 5174.22 square miles (13401.17 square kilometre) of it is land and 33.98 square miles (88.01 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the fifth largest by area in the U.S. state of Utah.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4735 people in the county, organized into 1576 households, and 1199 families living in the county. The population density was 0.9 people per square mile (0.35/kmē), making its Utah's least densely populated county. There were 2767 housing units at an average density of 0.5 per square mile (0.19/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.92 persons, and the average family size was 3.43 persons. In the county Age distribution was 32.6% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 23.1% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 104.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.2 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 4658, The racial makeup of the county was 95.99% White, 0.17% Black or African American, 2.28% American Indian, 0.39% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.14% from two or more races.
