Garfield County is one of the 77 county of Oklahoma, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 57813 as per the Census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 58167, It is the 12th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It has total area of 1059.94 sq mi (2745.23 kmē), of which, 1058.39 square miles (2741.22 kmē) of it is land and 1.55 square miles (4.01 kmē) of it is water, it is the 16th largest by area in the U.S. state of Oklahoma.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 57813 residents, 23175 households, and 15799 families in the county. The population density was 54.6 people per square mile (21.08/kmē), making its Oklahoma's 19th most densely populated county. There were 26047 housing units at an average density of 24.6 per square mile (9.5/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.42 persons, and the average family size was 2.95 persons. The population's age distribution was 25% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 27.3% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 16% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.4 males. Its population was estimated at 58167 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 52451 White, 1912 Black or African American, 1397 American Indian, 598 Asian, 425 Native Hawaiian, and 1384 from two or more races.
