Garfield County is a county located in the United States of Nebraska. It is home to over 1902 people (2000 census). Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 1710, It is the 15th smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Nebraska. The county extends throughout a territory of 571.34 square miles (1479.76 square kilometre ), of which, 570.03 square miles (1476.37 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.31 square miles (3.39 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 62nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Nebraska.

The population density was 3.3 people per square mile (1.27/kmē), making its Nebraska's 21st least densely populated county. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 23.5% under the age of 18, 4.4% from 18 to 24, 20.5% from 25 to 44, 26.8% from 45 to 64, and 24.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.4 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 1710, The racial makeup of the county was 1693 White, 1 Black or African American, 6 American Indian, 2 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 8 from two or more races.
